On March 15 1848 the uprising erupts in Pest. At Café Pilvax a group of revolutionary youths gathers, unwittingly harboring an imperial court informer. News of Jellasics’ attack drives villagers into the national army, while Hajdú Gyurka escapes his landlord. Poet Petőfi appears at the rebel camp, stirring the fighters with his verses.
