After completing his hajj to Mecca, the devout Muslim is honored with the title “el Hadji”. Upon returning home he becomes enamored with Santou, a friend of his daughter's who is betrothed to Garba. Though already married to two women, his second wife Gaika cannot tolerate the prospect of another young wife and schemes to murder Santou.
