A literary drama explores the disillusionment of Spanish exiles who fled Franco’s regime and returned after its fall to discover democratic leaders lacking ethics or purpose. Director Basilio Martín Patino bases the story on his own life, following an exiled heroine (Charo López) who returns to Spain while translating Hölderlin’s Hyperion. Voice‑over excerpts of the translation accompany her encounters with old friends, all sharing the same lingering ennui.
