The men retreat to Joe’s office, where Nick challenges Joe about the missing loot from a prior crime and reveals that Hammond used to be called Harper. In the Chamber of Horrors section of Joe’s Wax House, Charlie Chubb overhears part of the conversation, his attention split between the adult discussion and the eerie displays around him. Charlie slips back toward the pier discreetly, followed by his worried mother, and they discover Rita fainted beside Nick’s lifeless body.

When the police arrive, Hammond “hides in plain sight” as another waxwork, but Charlie’s sharp eyes detect a subtle movement amid the figures. A tense pursuit erupts along the pier, weaving through crowds and shadows until Hammond is driven toward the sea and finally drowns in a desperate plunge.
