During the Vel’ d’Hiv’ Roundup in July 1942, thirteen-year-old Tauba Birenbaum and her parents, Polish Jews seeking refuge in Paris, are forced to hide in a small room for over two years. Facing harsh conditions and the constant fear of discovery, Tauba’s parents struggle with despair. However, Tauba maintains a resilient spirit, finding solace in simple pleasures like a drawing of a piano and glimpses of the city through a window. She clings to hope for liberation and a chance to reclaim her life.
