Emily stays with her bourgeois grandparents whenever her mother is filming. Isabelle wraps a picture, flies to her childhood home to collect Emily and plans to return to France. Their reunion forces old family wounds to surface: Isabelle’s strained relationship with her parents and her mother Paula’s unhappiness about her marriage and lost youthful hopes. Meanwhile, the married co‑star of Isabelle’s latest film follows her to a nearby hotel and attempts an affair, complicating what’s best for Emily.
