In the near future, Earth's atmosphere has become toxic enough to threaten humanity's survival. Aethera holds a global monopoly on AIRemedy, claiming it protects people while secretly manipulating the population. An underground resistance, led by the elusive Lazarus, begins to organize against the corporation's control.

Tully steals a vial he believes is a new party drug from Spider and drops it. Ella, after discovering him with her dresser Gina, impulsively swallows the vial's contents. Immediately she collapses and awakens with mutagenic changes beginning to manifest in her body.

With no formula in hand, Tully helps Ella escape the party when she starts mutating. They race across the roof of the party site in a bid to flee, but Tully slips and falls to his death. Ella continues to stumble forward as her powers surge.

Ella collapses and Boxer, a friend of Tully, swoops in to carry her to safety. Believing Ella is responsible for Tully's death, Gina calls the police, triggering a manhunt that attracts corporate scrutiny. O'Connors, head of Aethera's research, becomes aware of the growing threat.

Eric O'Connors, son of Aethera's chairman, has Spider's group under surveillance after a mole stole a synthetic substitute for AIRemedy's main reagent. The original reagent was based on toxins from a dragonfly species immune to atmosphere, but the replacement proved deadly to most test subjects except Ella. He intensifies the chase and plans to extract the mutated reagents from Ella.

Fleeing, Ella heads to a clinic to seek help, but her growing mutations alarm the staff. They react with revulsion, and she finds herself hunted by security, complicating any chance of treatment. The mutation's progression leaves her more powerful and more exposed.

Gina calls Solomon after following the trail of events, and Spider and Solomon abduct Ella to their drug lab. Gina's pursuit leads to a police raid that arrests Ella and Solomon, while Spider slips away. The capture marks a turning point in the power struggle over the mutated subject.

O'Connors takes Ella and Solomon to an Aethera facility for a battery of tests and torture. He presses Solomon for details about his formula, while Solomon reveals a broader plan to distribute an antidote to the world and hints at Lazarus's role. The conversation reveals the true stakes of the mutation and its potential ending.

As Ella's mutation progresses, she overhears a discussion that she may not survive the reagent extraction. Fueled by fury and defiance, she decides to break free from the facility and betray those who seek to manipulate her. Her determination grows as the situation becomes more desperate.

The breakout intensifies as Spider triggers a bomb threat to create a diversion. O'Connors floods the facility with gas to force the fugitives out into the open. In the chaos, Max is discovered and taken along, shifting the captors' priorities and giving Ella and Solomon a temporary chance to escape.

The trio escapes to a reservoir, where Solomon explains the last pieces of the plan and provides Ella with the final ingredient for the antidote. Ella leaps from the ledge, gliding to safety as O'Connors recaptures Solomon during the pursuit. The sequence marks a turning point where the antidote's potential becomes entangled with personal survival.

At the reservoir’s edge, Ella finally meets Lazarus, who is revealed to be Angela, O'Connors' own aide. Lazarus proposes cooperation to give humanity with a real option for adaptation instead of corporate domination. Ella contemplates joining the movement and planning how the antidote could reach the world.

With Lazarus as an ally, Ella agrees to help disseminate the adaptive mutation option. The ending underscores the struggle between powerful interests and grassroots resistance, with humanity's fate resting on a world-changing choice. The future remains uncertain, but the possibility of an ethical antidote has emerged.
