In the corridor outside BBC Studio D on Friday, 9 August 1963, a reporter questions a script‑writer about his new series “Doc’ True”. The writer claims it’s “like nothing you’ve ever seen”, but an actor in a doctor’s coat interrupts, calling it a “British Doctor Kildare, only much more real”. A caveman‑costumed actor then chimes in. After the writer pulls the “doctor” aside, the reporter bumps into someone looking for a designer, then meets Verity Lamberth and Sydney Newbaum, who assure there will be no “bug‑eyed monsters” as a Dalek is wheeled past them.
