A lyrical, haunting film that follows a young man’s quest for love across a dreamlike, opaque landscape. Slow‑moving, homo‑erotic images contrast with barren scenery as two men explore their desires. Off‑screen, Dame Judi Dench recites Shakespeare’s sonnets, providing a counterpoint. Director Derek Jarman described it as his most austere yet closest‑to‑heart work.
