In French Guiana, a young anthropology researcher named Eliott journeys to study the enigmatic Otopis tribe deep within the Amazon rainforest. Seeking independence from his overbearing mother, a controversial ethnologist, Eliott soon discovers the Otopis are far from the idealized people he expected. They are a troubled people, marked by violence and deceit, turning his research into a harrowing ordeal. Driven by remorse and concern, his mother abandons her own expedition to find him, joined by a reluctant Lieutenant-Commander and his men, venturing into the perilous jungle.
