In August 1980, Brazilian senator Evandro Carreira leaves his Manaus office to tour Amazonas, meeting farmworkers, loggers, explorer Paulo Lucena and Brazilian and Peruvian indigenous peoples. Filmed from Benjamin Constant to Cavalo Cocho, the trip visits Ticuna and Maiuruna villages and includes an interview with José Francisco da Cruz of the Holy Cross, revealing the Amazon’s economic promise and the challenges of policy corruption and industrial pollution.
