Scholar Christian-Theodore arrives in a small, miracle‑filled kingdom and falls for its beautiful princess, whose marriage will crown the next king. With no selfish motives, he summons his Shadow to aid his courtship. The Shadow, embodying egoism, greed and cruelty, betrays him, forcibly marries the princess and seizes the throne.
