As a dancer lifts her hands, a flower’s skin splits open, wet and snake‑like, hinting at the surreal mood. Ms. Yoshino, a widow, lives with her daughter Takako until Hideo arrives. Hideo fascinates women: he draws Takako, while Yoshino is pulled toward him because he resembles his late father, a kabuki actor with whom she once had an affair.
