In a Malagasy village during the 1947 uprising, the film follows Solo as his community joins the anti‑colonial revolt against the French. Reprisals bring fire, arrests and torture as his brothers enlist. Grandmother Bakanga warns of tragedy; hopes of heroism yield to repression, leaving women, children and elderly to endure famine and illness.
