The creature travels to Ethan Valentine’s home, where it murders Ethan and attacks Susan. Susan fights back using a vase and a makeshift flamethrower, ultimately destroying the Syngenor.

Gorski orders Armbrewster to retrieve the project files and release the other Syngenors. Armbrewster, fearing the consequences, tricks receptionist Bonnie into collecting the files, and she is killed by the released creatures. The security breach triggers the basement threat to escalate.

Susan meets journalist Nick Carey in Ethan’s lab and they decide to infiltrate Norton Cyberdyne. Susan poses as Nick’s photographer to gain access, beginning their reluctant alliance to uncover the truth behind the company’s secrets.

Nick confronts Armbrewster, who frames Carter for the killings; Gorski lets Carter hear the accusation, revealing Armbrewster’s treachery while making Gorski appear loyal. The internal politics of Norton Cyberdyne become a weapon in the conspiracy.

Susan finds Norton Cyberdyne’s museum display and photographs a Syngenor prototype. Security guard Donnie catches them, and both Nick and Susan are brought before Carter, who threatens them as the corporate machine fights back to suppress the truth.

Carter, increasingly unstable, summons security official Sam Krebs to kill the Syngenors in the basement. Nick and Susan infiltrate Krebs's team, obtaining photographic evidence of Norton Cyberdyne's activities, and barely escape the pursuit. They vow to press on with the truth.

At Susan’s home, Nick and Susan argue about their next steps, then reaffirm their commitment by sharing a kiss. Their relationship deepens as they decide to pursue the truth together despite the danger.

They discover an egg left by the first Syngenor has hatched into a new threat, which kills Leo Rossell and chases Nick and Susan back to Norton Cyberdyne. An explosion injures the new Syngenor, giving them a brief window to act.

Carter fires a prototype energy weapon to wipe out Armbrewster and then releases the Syngenors into the building, triggering a lockdown. Nick and Susan discover most of the board murdered in the boardroom, while Gorski and Greenwait survive, intensifying the crisis.

Gorski reveals she was the architect behind the initial release that killed Ethan, exposing her own complicity. Nick lures the remaining Syngenors toward an elevator to trap them, setting the stage for the final confrontation.

The elevator reaches the basement, allowing Gorski to kill most remaining Syngenors; the last one wounds Gorski but then the energy weapon misfires and a sprinkler system triggers, melting the fused creature. Carter is dead, and Nick and Susan escape the collapsing nightmare.

With the immediate danger resolved, Nick and Susan depart Norton Cyberdyne. In the museum, the prototype Syngenor in its display case awakens, hinting that the threat may not be over. The ending leaves a chilling reminder that Norton Cyberdyne’s experiments live on.
