After their annual free concert at Chicago’s Dearborn Settlement, Benny Goodman and his band are preparing to leave for their next gig when a young boy steals Goodman’s clarinet. Goodman and his manager Popsie chase the thief to a crowded tenement, where they discover the boy’s brother playing trombone. Impressed, Goodman offers the talented trombonist a job in the band, sparking a series of lively shenanigans.
