After a car traveling 25 mph plunges into Toyama’s Shinko Harbour, business tycoon Fukutaro Shirakawa dies while his second wife Kumako survives unharmed. Because the deceased was insured for 300 million yen, Kumako is arrested on suspicion of murder for the payout. The press brands her a villain and the public assumes guilt, while defense lawyer Ritsuko Sahara takes her case, sparking relentless conflict between them.
