Set in a post‑apocalyptic 1990 Canada after atomic accidents and global economic collapse, a young couple strives for a quiet existence in a lawless world. They are aided by a wandering mercenary who protects them from repeated raids by mutated scavenger packs that are mysteriously reverting to animal forms. The mercenary even kills their dog, and an ominous lone figure stalks them wherever they go.
