Filmmaker Michael Dominic goes behind the doors of New York’s historic Sunshine Hotel, one of the few remaining low‑cost flophouses that once housed tens of thousands of society’s margins. Inside, residents occupy four‑by‑six‑foot cubicles topped with chicken‑wire ceilings. The documentary follows several colorful occupants—a transgender woman saving for surgeries, a hotel manager who serves as the building’s resident philosopher, among others—offering a compassionate, non‑judgmental portrait of a diverse community that has endured for over eight decades.
