In a dystopian near future, the British government replaces prisons with an environmentally conscious program. Criminals and undocumented immigrants are chemically transformed into trees and exhibited publicly. A propaganda filmmaker begins to doubt his role when his journalist wife is slated for this drastic "planting" as punishment for crimes against the state. This grim and imaginative cautionary tale, directed by Tony Hipwell and inspired by a short story by Yasutaka Tsutsui, explores themes of justice and political control.
