Every year, Stella Fawnskin, Leslie Easterbrook, selects seven members of Sigma Phi Pi to compete for the Fawnskin Grant, a prestigious prize set in the secluded resort town of Grizzly Cove. On the way to Stella’s ranch, Holly Fanning, Marissa Skell, is murdered at a deserted rest area, and the next day detective William Watts, Thomas Downey, learns that his own career is at risk. Holly’s father, Captain Dan Fanning, Kevin Sorbo, informs him that Will is being suspended from the LAPD for repeatedly using excessive force. In a tense exchange, Dan reveals Holly hasn’t checked in yet, and Will offers to go to Grizzly Cove to keep an eye on her in exchange for Dan helping him get back on the force.
Will is ferried to Grizzly Cove by Kreeger, Richard Moll, and soon meets Sheriff Barney P. Lumpkin, Ed O’Ross, and Deputy Lang, Amanda Barton. The trio heads to Stella’s ranch to question Stella, the six remaining grant contenders — Paige Harrison, Casey Fitzgerald; Brooklyn, Eve Mauro; Veronica, Rebecca Grant; Jessie Lynn, Adrian Kirk; Kioko, Alison Mei Lan; Sloan, Yvette Yates Redick — and Stella’s loyal handyman, Aggo, Keith Compton. Each of them denies knowing Holly’s whereabouts, and Will digs into a pattern: sorority girls have been vanishing in Grizzly Cove for decades, a fact that shocks the local lawmen and deepens the mystery.
With the town’s phones sabotaged and the only working lines under Stella’s control, Will improvises a plan. He directs Barney back to the mayor’s house, dispatches Lang to coordinate with Kreeger for a potential reach to Dan, and presses forward with a careful surveillance of Stella’s operations. The group soon uncovers Veronica’s body, murdered in a cruel display using bees, and Stella’s phone line appears dead as panic spreads. The tension escalates when Will, Barney, and Lang return to the ranch, only to witness a horrifying sequence: Stella is hanged, Kioko’s body turns up in the refrigerator, and Sloan is set ablaze, burning to death in the chaos.
As fear grips the estate, Brooklyn strikes—stabbing Jessie Lynn in the head—triggering a bloody trail that leads Will to a hidden chamber. He finds Brooklyn and Barney bound, and Barney uses deception to force Will into a dangerous trap. The sheriff reveals his own treachery and continues to chase his twisted mission: murdering sorority girls for decades, a ritual inspired by his own attempt to cover up Stella’s earlier murder of her rival, the aunt of Brooklyn. The revelation lands with brutal clarity: the killer is not a random intruder, but a self-styled guardian of a grim, decades-long vendetta.
Back in the main house, Paige Harrison and Aggo—who appears to be a con man named Brian in disguise—are pursued by the axe-wielding Brooklyn, who despises “sorority bitches.” Paige fights and ultimately strangles Brooklyn, using the chaos to their advantage. Barney, cackling with a false sense of victory, is then incapacitated by Will, who uses a speaker to press it against Barney’s chest, triggering a pacemaker failure that appears to finish him off. Yet the danger isn’t over: Paige’s nerves fray when she notices the bee stings on Paige’s own arm, and she tries to turn the tables on Will by knocking out Aggo and throwing him overboard.
In a final clash of wits, Will manages to overpower Paige and eventually drags her into the water, where she drowns. The threat seems to end, but a last petty moment of schadenfreude surfaces: while using the precinct’s washroom, Will is taunted by a rival detective—an exchange that ends with Will giving the offender a swirly before Dan appears, leaving the question of who truly wins to the viewer’s judgment.
In the post-credits scene, Barney is shown recovering, and a banner proclaims: “Detective Watts Returns in Bachelorette Party Massacre.” The film blends rural menace with a procedural backbone, inviting viewers to weigh loyalty, cover-ups, and the cost of justice as the mystery of Holly’s disappearance becomes entwined with a decades-spanning conspiracy that stretches from the Grizzly Cove ranch to the very heart of the LAPD.
The setting remains a claustrophobic, isolated getaway where every character bears secrets as thick as the fog rolling off the mountains.
The cast’s performances, especially the authority figures and the sorority girls, drive a tense, claustrophobic atmosphere that gradually erupts into a bloody unraveling of loyalties and lies.
Throughout, notes of betrayal and twisted morality underscore a killer’s long-rooted obsession, while the investigation spirals into a confrontation that tests Will Watts’s resolve and willingness to push beyond the letter of the law to seek the truth.
The film ends with a bittersweet, hard-won relief: the immediate danger is neutralized, but the shadows of what happened in Grizzly Cove linger, hinting at the toll exacted on those who survived—and the price of uncovering the truth in a town where everyone plays a part in a much larger, darker story.
