Based on Mór Jókai’s novel, the film unfolds during the Hungarian War of Independence of 1848‑49. A mother and her three sons strive to break away from the rigid, stone‑hearted path laid out by their conservative father. Their search for direction and the rivalry among the brothers, combined with Jókai’s masterful storytelling, a strong cast, and vivid, memorable scenes, deliver a compelling and unforgettable cinematic experience.
