Lena, seven months pregnant, plans to sell her unborn child. Ermanno agrees to pose as the father, with Fabio, Ermanno's uncle, intending to purchase the baby for himself and his wife Bianca, who are unable to have children. This arrangement constitutes a fake adoption, exploiting a legal loophole in Italy. As strangers forced to play a couple and live together, Ermanno and Lena initially clash, driven by self-interest.
