Mickey Mouse accompanies Pluto to a ritzy dog show, arriving in a makeshift wooden car. As they settle into the atmosphere of the grand venue, Mickey works with careful hands to groom Pluto, while the loyal dog glances longingly at Fifi the Peke, sensing a spark of curiosity and admiration. The moment Pluto is called up to the judge’s stand, Mickey steps in to retrieve him, trying to shield his friend from the stiff, rule-bound world of competition.

What follows is a rough twist of luck and judgment. The judge proves unfair and dismissive, and Pluto’s outburst lands him in trouble. The crowd watches as Pluto is harshly expelled, and the moment is punctuated by a sharp, unresolved note as they land near the stairs. Mickey’s voice rings out with reassurance, insisting that Pluto is a better dog than any of the others, and that perhaps the judge should take the time to get to know him—an appeal that goes unheard as the pair are ushered out.

Yet the show isn’t done with them. When word spreads that a group of trick dogs will soon perform onstage, Mickey seizes the chance to reenter Pluto as a trick dog, even though Pluto trembles at the idea. The plan is bold, the nerves palpable, and the tension in the room grows as the crowd begins to surge toward the performance area. A photographer attempts to capture the spectacle, and the flash powder from the camera ignites a curtain, sparking a dangerous fire that sweeps through the building.

Amid the chaos, Fifi becomes ensnared under a fallen microphone stand, and the fire forces everyone to flee. In the ensuing scramble, Mickey prepares to re-enter with Pluto—this time as a roller-skating act—yet debris and falling equipment threaten to block their path. Pluto’s courage shines through as, aided by the sound of Fifi’s distress, he plunges back inside, still on his roller skates. Mickey is momentarily halted by a collapsing pillar and a shifting floor, but Pluto powers on, skating across wooden beams to reach Fifi just as a dangerous gap opens beneath her.

With time running out, Pluto drags Fifi to safety and, in a breathtaking exit, the two tumble through a window and land on a drain pipe that folds down like a spring, launching them out onto the street. Outside, the crowd erupts in cheers as Pluto is hailed a hero, and the judge finally recognizes his bravery with a medal. In the glow of the celebration, Pluto uses his ear to tug Fifi along behind the medal, a small, warm moment that hints at affection and friendship between the two dogs.
