Jacob Harlon enjoys a successful career as a stockbroker, living a comfortable life in California with his wife Katherine and son Joshua. Their life seems ideal, reflecting success and happiness.

After a night out with friends, Jacob drives them home but causes a horrific collision that results in the death of one of his friends. This tragic accident sets off a chain of events that drastically alters his future.

Due to being under the influence at the time of the accident, Jacob is advised to take a plea deal which leads to a 16-month sentence at the California Institution for Men in Chino. This marks the beginning of his descent into the brutal reality of prison life.

In prison, Jacob faces the harshness of inmate culture and stands up for himself when provoked by an African-American inmate. This bold move captures the attention of Bottles, the leader of a violent white supremacist gang.

To secure protection, Jacob is coerced into joining the gang PENI, where he begins to smuggle heroin and is ordered to kill a 'snitch.' This decision marks a turning point, forcing him deeper into a life of crime.

Jacob, now known as his gang alias 'Money,' rises in rank and grows physically muscular while becoming hardened by prison life. He continues to accumulate gang tattoos, symbolizing his commitment to this new identity.

During a riot, Jacob stabs another inmate to save the head of the Sureños. Although this earns him respect within the gang, it also leads to an additional nine-year sentence for his actions caught on camera.

Jacob is transferred to the Corcoran State Prison under maximum security, where he meets 'The Beast,' the powerful leader of the Aryan Brotherhood. Impressed by Jacob's loyalty, he elevates him to second-in-command.

As Jacob's release date approaches, The Beast orders him to orchestrate a weapons deal with the Sureños. Torn between his gang loyalty and the consequences of being on parole, Jacob feels the pressure mounting.

Upon release, Jacob reunites with gang members and grapples with the sight of his son Joshua, who has grown up without him. The emotional toll leads to a brief breakdown, as Jacob realizes the impact of his choices on his family.

Jacob's parole officer is tipped off about the weapons deal, resulting in Jacob being placed under surveillance. As tensions rise, he discovers that a close gang member is actually an informant for law enforcement.

On the day of the deal, Jacob takes drastic action by killing the informant Shotgun after realizing his betrayal. This violent act escalates the situation and places Jacob deeper in the crosshairs of law enforcement.

After the weapons deal goes awry due to police intervention, Jacob faces severe consequences, ultimately being sentenced to life in prison without parole. In a chilling confrontation, he chooses to protect his family rather than turn informant.

Back at Corcoran, Jacob executes a plan to confront The Beast, leading to a brutal fight where Jacob kills him, asserting his dominance within the gang. He is now bound to the criminal lifestyle with the added burden of protecting his family.

Jacob receives a heartfelt letter from Joshua, revealing that his family is moving on and forgiving him for his past actions. This emotional moment allows Jacob to reflect on his choices as he comes to terms with his new life.
