Inspired by real events and the moral panic of the late 1970s–early 1980s, the film echoes classic horror of that era. In 1980, ten‑year‑old twins Toby and Cindy Richards are seized by a deranged satanic cult; Cindy escapes while Toby disappears. Twenty‑five years later, six friends on a canoe trip to revive their bond stumble into the isolated town of Thornwood, where the same cult and hostile locals threaten them. They must survive the nightmarish rites or become the next sacrifice.
