Kalidasan, Lal, works in the state archaeological department in Thiruvananthapuram and is a devoted foodie. His only constant companion is his cook, Baburaj as Babu. Manu Raghav, Asif Ali, Kalidasan’s nephew, comes to stay with him while looking for a job. Kalidasan’s life remains ordinary until a misdialled phone call from Maya, Shweta Menon, a dubbing artist living with her friend Meenakshi.
Maya rings to order a special dosa named Thattil Kutty Dosa from a restaurant, but the call lands on Kalidasan instead. Their conversations do not start smoothly, but they discover a shared love of cooking and food, which sparks a long-distance romance. Kalidasan is a born gourmet, while Maya channels her culinary energy in memory of her late mother. Kalidasan even brings Maya into his kitchen world, revealing the secrets of baking with a multilayered cake called Joan’s Rainbow.
Before their first face-to-face meeting, nerves mount on both sides, and they decide to send younger and better-looking stand-ins: Manu and Meenakshi. When they finally meet, neither is aware that the other is a substitute. Manu thinks Kalidasan is in love with Meenakshi, and Meenakshi thinks Maya is in love with Manu.
They try to sabotage the potential match by warning their older counterparts away from each other. Kalidasan and Maya attempt to forget, yet the pull remains, and they decide to meet anyway. Manu and Meenakshi, who have begun to develop real feelings for each other, are crestfallen and decide to leave the city so that the elder lovers can have a chance. A chance encounter with a common acquaintance, Pooja, at the railway station reveals the truth: Manu and Meenakshi recount what they’ve learned to Kalidasan and Maya.
From there, Kalidasan and Maya see the pieces fall into place, and the two old hearts finally connect. When Kalidasan and Maya meet, their relationship blossoms into something new and lasting. The film also shows that Manu and Meenakshi are in a relationship of their own, completing a heartfelt circle of love, identity, and shared food memories.
