Romeo Is Juliet

In Verona Beach, the Capulets and Montagues wage a rising feud between business empires. A shootout between Montague Benvolio and Capulet Tybalt erupts, drawing police attention. Captain Prince arrests both men and sternly warns that a future breach will cost the families their peace.

That evening, Romeo and Benvolio decide to attend a Capulet party. Romeo learns that Rosaline will be there, but he becomes entranced by Juliet at the Capulet mansion. Tybalt spots Romeo and vows to kill him for trespassing.

After the party, Romeo and Juliet discover they belong to feuding families, yet they cannot resist their growing attraction. Romeo returns to see Juliet and secretly proposes marriage. Juliet agrees to be betrothed if he sends word by the next day.

The following day, Romeo asks Father Laurence to marry them and the priest agrees. Romeo passes the plans to Juliet through her nurse, and the couple is married in secret.

Tybalt confronts Mercutio and Romeo at the beach; Romeo pleads for peace but Mercutio is drawn into battle. Mercutio dies cursing both houses, and Romeo slays Tybalt in a fury of grief and revenge.

Captain Prince banishes Romeo from Verona, and he flees to hide with Father Laurence. The nurse arrives to tell Romeo that Juliet awaits him, intensifying the sense of impending separation.

Romeo sneaks into Juliet's room and the lovers consummate their marriage as dawn approaches. Romeo departs the next morning to avoid detection.

Fulgencio Capulet decides Juliet should marry Paris; Juliet protests, and Gloria supports the plan before Fulgencio assaults her. Juliet seeks Father Laurence for help, who provides a potion to fake her death and promises to inform Romeo by overnight letter about the scheme.

Romeo does not receive the overnight letter warning him of the fake death and goes to an apothecary to buy poison. Believing Juliet to be truly dead, he heads to the Capulet tomb.

Romeo enters the tomb and drinks the poison just as Juliet awakens from her simulated death. He dies beside her, leaving Juliet to mourn him without hope of escape.

Juliet, discovering Romeo dead, kills herself with his gun and falls beside his lifeless body. A crowd of spectators and reporters watches as Romeo's body is carried away in an ambulance.

Captain Prince berates the feuding fathers for the deaths of their children, underscoring the human cost of their feud. The city mourns as the families confront their losses and vow to honor their children's memories.
