Queen of Blood

In 1990, Laura James, a communications expert at the International Institute of Space Technology, begins monitoring strange signals from space. Dr. Farraday translates the transmissions and reveals they come from an alien ambassador bound for Earth. Laura later receives a video log showing that the alien starship has crash-landed on Mars.

The video log confirms the Martian crash-landing of the alien starship. The Institute concludes that an ambassador might still be alive, prompting a rescue mission.

The Institute launches the rescue mission aboard the spaceship Oceano, carrying Laura James with Anders Brockman and Paul Grant. They travel through a sunburst and suffer some damage before continuing toward Mars. Upon arrival, they locate the downed alien craft.

Anders and Paul search the downed craft and find a single dead alien aboard. Dr. Farraday deduces that the surviving crew may have been rescued, so an observation satellite will be needed to locate the alien rescue ship.

Laura's fiancé Allan and fellow astronaut Tony volunteer to help. They travel on the Meteor to Phobos to launch the observation satellite. Tony discovers an alien spaceship on Phobos, and he and Allan enter to find an unconscious but living female alien.

Because the rescue craft can carry only two, a coin toss determines who stays behind. Tony remains on Phobos while Allan returns to Oceano with the alien.

Allan returns with the female alien to Oceano and they join Laura, Paul, and Anders aboard. The alien regains consciousness and smiles at the three men, but not Laura.

She refuses to eat and will not allow Anders to take a blood sample. That night, while Paul guards her, she hypnotizes and kills him, draining his blood. The surviving astronauts decide to keep her alive by feeding her blood from the ship's plasma supply.

After the plasma supply runs out, the alien kills Anders and feeds on him, leaving Laura and Allan as the only humans aboard.

The alien attacks Allan, but Laura intervenes. In the struggle, Laura scratches the alien; she bleeds to death. Laura and Allan then discover alien eggs hidden aboard.

Allan hypothesizes that the alien was royalty—a queen likely bred for Earth, and that inbreeding among royal lines could explain her hemophilia.

The mission lands safely on Earth, and authorities decide to study the alien eggs rather than destroying them outright, as Allan had urged.
