The royal procession is stranded near Kali Pahari as Raja Harimaan Singh searches for his missing daughter Rupali. Rupali wanders into the ruins of an old fortress and is seized by Samri. He mesmerises her and drains her life-force, causing her eyes to turn milky white while his own eyes flash blood red. The king orders Samri captured, fearing what he has unleashed.

Samri is brought to trial for crimes committed to please demonic masters. The rajpurohit suggests burning as purification, but Raja Harimaan Singh insists on a harsher sentence. Samri is condemned to decapitation, his head to be kept in a strong-box and his body buried behind the old Kalighat temple. The curse is uttered as the sentence is sealed.
