In the untamed frontier before the era of covered wagons and charging cavalry, Royal Canadian Mountie Duncan MacDonald of the Northwest Mounted Police is tasked with escorting a band of Cree Indians to their reservation across the border. He is aided – and often misled – by Natayo, a mixed‑heritage guide whose loyalties are questionable.
