Tom, a Zagreb native, goes to Belgrade to make films. He survives on the aid of several women, distrustful of all and opposing authority. After a naive American girl leaves him, he stays with a married woman, then her husband’s sister, who kills him out of jealousy. Archival footage of world leaders and events up to 1968 is woven into the story.
