The Surete Commissioner sends Inspector Clouseau and Sergeant Deux‑Deux after the enigmatic Monsieur X. Their pursuit leads them from a submarine and an army tank across Africa, confronting X in the Sahara and on Mount Kilimanjaro. After numerous comic mishaps they abandon the chase, return to headquarters, and discover that Monsieur X has been hired as the department’s new physical‑training instructor.
