Paradise City

The ending of Paradise City reveals that Ian Swan, believed to have been killed, was actually alive and in hiding, fake death to protect himself and Maui from Buckley’s true plans. Buckley, who is secretly Terrance Billford and has undergone plastic surgery, is a corrupt politician connected to the cartel, aiming to turn Maui into a drug hub and continue his criminal activities. Ryan, with the help of Ian and Robbie, ultimately confronts Buckley at his fortress, the Golden Throne. After a fierce fight, they manage to rescue Robbie and catch Buckley, whose hidden identity is exposed as he is arrested.

Throughout the climax, Ryan faces off against Terrance, the real villain behind Ian’s death and the island’s corruption. During their confrontation, Ian admits to Ryan that he was the one who killed Ryan’s mother, revealing a tragic personal motive. Terrance shoots Ian, but Ryan intervenes, wounded in the process. In the end, Buckley/Billford’s plans are thwarted, Maui is freed from his grip, and justice is served. The film concludes with the destruction of the corrupt empire and a hopeful note with the island beginning to rebuild, symbolized by the donation of Buckley’s ill-gotten gains to restore Paradise City. The story ends on a note of closure and renewal, emphasizing that good eventually triumphs over evil.
