Timeline
Henry Hadley (1871‑1937) leads the New York Philharmonic in a performance of Wagner’s Tannhäuser overture. The film uses two cameras: a fixed shot that captures Hadley and the full ensemble of over 80 tuxedoed musicians, and a modestly panning camera that moves closer to highlight roughly fifteen players at a time. The early talkie contains no spoken dialogue.
