A dysfunctional family lives in Northern France under a cloud of abuse and addiction. The father, a pharmacist, is a mean, drunkenly violent figure; the mother is pill‑dependent and harbors an incestuous desire for her son. The son skips school to go fishing, while their daughter copes with a mental handicap.
