A Czech democratic politician, Milada Horáková, bravely fought for her country’s freedom, ultimately paying the highest price. Before World War II, she was a prominent figure, but after the 1948 communist coup, she chose to remain in Czechoslovakia and openly opposed the new regime. As a result, she was arrested and subjected to a politically motivated show trial, where she was falsely accused of treason and broadcast on the radio. Her story represents one of the first tragic consequences of the communist takeover.
