Lærke, an ambitious hotel manager, seizes a once‑in‑a‑lifetime chance when her boss sends her to Malaga, Spain, to oversee a spectacular new hotel built on a mango farm. The farm is owned by Alex, a former lawyer who stubbornly refuses to sell because of an unresolved tragedy. Lærke travels with her daughter Agnes, who looks forward to a rare adventure amid the orange groves and the unfolding conflict.

What Happens at the End of Mango?

At the film’s close Lærke returns to Denmark to find that Alex has already signed the papers handing the mango farm over to her firm. She knows he still has a fourteen‑day cooling‑off period, and she decides to risk everything for the land she has come to love. She quits her high‑powered job, sells her apartment and borrows the money needed to bring her community‑hotel concept to life, then flies back to Málaga with Agnes.
When Lærke meets Alex again she lays out the plan: a small‑scale, eco‑friendly resort built around the existing orchard, employing the farm workers, giving the property modern utilities and, most importantly, keeping the place alive for Paula, Alex’s sister‑in‑law who still dreams of becoming a pilot. Seeing a mother sacrifice her stable career and her home convinces Alex that Lærke’s intentions are genuine, and he withdraws his consent to sell.

Together they begin to turn the mango grove into a community hotel, using the sustainable blueprint Agnes has sketched—tiny, solar‑powered cabins, shared water and heating systems, and spaces that invite locals and guests to mingle. Over the next year the project comes together: the hotel is nearly finished, Paula enrolls in a flying school, and Agnes’s design gains the recognition that could open the door to a better architecture program.
The final scenes show Lærke and Alex not only as business partners but as a couple, their romance finally grounded in trust. Agnes and Paula remain close friends, and the newly formed family watches the mango trees bloom anew, a living reminder that love, responsibility and a bold vision can save both a place and the people who cherish it.
