Filmed in the late 1970s and documented in diary entries years later, the film explores the lives of Lydia and Wolfgang B. over two decades. She is a translator of French literature, and he, a professor of Romance studies. Their story unfolds between moments of crisis and joy, showcasing passion alongside disciplined work, convictions alongside doubts, and the shadow of a potential recurrence of cancer. Through film recordings and Wolfgang’s diary entries, a fragmented portrait emerges of a complex marriage and a full life lived.
