Love of Siam

Tong defends Mew when he is teased at school, and Tong is injured in the scuffle. Mew is grateful for his courage, and the incident marks the turning point that starts their friendship. From that moment, they begin to rely on each other.

Mew plays on his late grandfather's piano while his grandma joins in to perform an old Chinese song. She tells him that one day he will understand the meaning behind the song. The moment deepens his connection to his family and his music.

Tong buys Mew a present and hides its pieces in a treasure-hunt style game during a Chiang Mai vacation. Mew finds all the pieces except the last, which is hidden in a tree that is cut down just as he reaches it. The failed final piece leaves Tong disappointed, but Mew remains grateful for the effort.

Tong's family cannot reach Tang in Chiang Mai and goes there to search for her. They cannot find her, and facing uncertainty they decide to move the family to Bangkok. The search and impending move reshape the family and set the stage for the years ahead.

Six years later, Mew has become the lead singer of the boy band August. Tong, now older, has an uptight girlfriend named Donut. The two reunite during their senior year at Siam Square, where old feelings begin to resurface.

Manager Aod pushes for a love-themed hit and brings in June, an assistant manager who looks identical to Tang. Tong meets June and feels a bittersweet familiarity, complicating his emotions and the family situation.

Tong and his mother Sunee hatch a plan to hire June to pretend she is Tang in hopes of lifting Korn out of his alcohol-fueled depression. The deception is meant to revive the father's spirits and stabilize the family, but it also weighs on Mew. This risky plan drives many of the subsequent events.

At the backyard party supposedly welcoming Tang, Mew's band performs the new love song. During the performance, Mew and Tong share a prolonged kiss, a moment that slips past the crowd. Sunee unknowingly witnesses the kiss later that evening.

The next day, Sunee commands Mew to stay away from Tong, shattering their closeness. Mew loses his musical inspiration and quits the band, unable to perform without his emotional outlet. The deception's fallout strains the family dynamics.

Korn's alcoholism worsens, leading to a liver condition that lands him in the hospital. June questions the Tang ruse’s effectiveness and leaves, removing a potential stabilizing influence. After she leaves, Korn begins taking liver medication again and shows signs of improvement.

Around Christmas, Tong's mother decorates the tree and signals acceptance of Tong's sexuality by letting him choose a male ornament. Tong goes to Siam Square for a date with Donut while Mew's band plays nearby. Ying helps Tong reach Mew in the crowd, reinforcing that Mew loves Tong.

After their performance, Tong gives Mew the missing nose from the wooden doll and tells him he cannot be his boyfriend, but that he still loves him. The moment marks a bittersweet acknowledgement of their feelings and a new understanding between them.
