On his twelfth birthday, Skeet gets his first surfboard from brother Randy, sparking a summer of perfect waves, beach parties and daring exploits. He befriends surfing legend Jim Wesley, who teaches him hot‑dogging tricks. Randy, grieving their father's death and jealous of Jim’s influence, is uneasy when Jim dates their single mother. Torn between his brother’s resentment and his new mentor, Skeet retreats to his room yet still yearns to surf.
