The Laurel and Hardy duo, performing as a Zoot Suit band, become unwitting fronts for a fraudulent scheme selling “gasoline pills” during America’s wartime oil shortage. When a young woman’s family is duped out of $10,000, the pair switches sides, working with a group of benevolent allies to retrieve the money and expose the con.
