A provincial young man arrives in Berlin and drifts through successive gay sub‑cultures. He first meets the blonde Clemens, who offers him coffee and a place to stay; they cohabit and emulate a bourgeois marriage, believing they have found lasting love. After four months of routine, a wealthy older gentleman lures him to his villa, where he encounters a circle of affluent older gay men who indulge in fine art and classical music, showering him with attention and new possibilities.
