Cab Calloway’s mother worries as he spends his days glued to the radio, imagining himself conducting a tiny orchestra. A passing deacon hears Cab’s singing and suggests he visit his wife’s gypsy‑styled tea room. While reading tea leaves, she envisions scenes that lead Cab and his band to perform lively musical numbers.
