Glenda portrays Hedda, who returns from her honeymoon with scholar husband Jørgen. The cold, manipulative Hedda is indifferent to his sacrifices for an elegant home. When she learns Jørgen’s rival Ejlert has resurfaced with a new publication, she pushes him back into alcoholism, steals the sequel to his book, and even urges him toward suicide.
