A gifted French ballet dancer and tap‑artist, Janine dreams of a musical career in Paris, but first she seeks revenge on Count René for jilting her friend Charlotte. She plans to make him fall for her and then spurn him. Disguised as a Marquise at a masked ball, she meets the man she believes is René, only to discover he is actually Pierre, a composer and pianist who is also pretending.
