Ghost Rider

On his first day of junior high, Kevin is befriended by Tracy on the ride home. She seems understanding and the two start to chat as the bus continues. When Tracy drops a pencil, Kevin picks it up and notices her name inscribed on it.

At home, Kevin shows his mother the pencil and learns the Donnelly family once lived in their house. She explains that Tracy was a Donnelly and that she died in a bus accident. The revelation hints at a supernatural connection between the pencil and the girl.

Kevin comes to the disturbing realization that Tracy is a ghost and begins to expect another encounter on the bus. Tracy appears as a spectral presence and hints that there is more to her story than just being a memory.

Tracy gives Kevin a bus safety manual to read, then vanishes. Kevin hesitates to read it at first, leaving the pages on his desk as a looming task.

Tracy haunts Kevin by moving his weights and changing the radio until he sits down to read the manual. As he reads, he begins to learn the emergency procedures it contains.

On the next bus ride, Tracy explains she never read the manual herself and thus didn’t know how to save herself. She warns Kevin that he will need to know the procedures soon.

A pickup truck overtakes dangerously and is followed by an oncoming vehicle, forcing the school bus off the road. The bus dangles precariously over a cliff with the driver unconscious.

Remembering the manual, Kevin evacuates the other students while Tracy coaches him, then helps revive the driver and exit the bus.

With no counterweights, the empty bus slides and falls over the cliff, crashing to the ground below. The students survive, and Kevin's actions are later seen as heroic.

The other students hail Kevin as a hero, but he remains worried about Tracy. He calls her name and she appears briefly in the distance, waves goodbye, and fades away.

Tracy's final departure leaves Kevin feeling both uplifted and unsettled; the others rally around him, helping him process the traumatic event.

Two of the students help comfort Kevin and guide him back to the group, including one who was injured in the crash, showing the community's care after the accident.

The group begins to heal together after the crash, and Kevin reflects on the events and the mysterious connection with Tracy, recognizing the lasting impact of the night.
