The film follows a veteran known as the General, whose combat experience spans World War II, Vietnam and the Korean War. Haunted by extreme beliefs—seeing politics as a continuation of war and treating civilians as enemies—he returns to his Antwerp estate still convinced he commands troops, and even ventures into the surrounding woods in full armor, living out his wartime mindset.
