After thirteen years of resistance, the authorities appear to have restored order in a bleak desert town of the future. A repressive regime bans artistic expression, yet Theo paints public murals at night, risking torture and death. When his lover Elia is arrested for the same act, he voluntarily surrenders, hoping imprisonment will reunite them.
