In the scorching heat of the Arizona desert, a broken‑down car throws Amanda Lawrence, a polished New York socialite, into the path of Jonathan Dartland, a driven mining engineer with a hidden Apache lineage, and his companion Hugh Slater, a good‑natured doctor who carries a steady supply of liquor.
